Queens, New York is about to get a new chicken and waffle joint courtesy of Nas.
Nas’ hometown of Queens, New York will soon be getting a modernized chicken and waffle joint.
Sweet Chick is a popular food chain, co-founded by Nas himself, that is already present in a few cities such as Brooklyn, Manhattan and Los Angeles so it’s only necessary that his former stomping ground gets a taste of the bites that many hip-hop elites have also gotten into – Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean to name a few. Sweet Chick adds a southern twist to modern American comfort food while serving up cocktails and desserts paired with a cosy interior and live music.
“Since partnering with Sweet Chick I’ve always wanted to take it back to my roots, and now it’s finally happening with the Long Island City store. That’s where I️ grew up,” Nas tells Billboard. “We are also paying respect to my father, who’s a now retired jazz artist, with a private dining room inspired by jazz clubs where Chicken and Waffles were born.”
The new restaurant is set to open in February 2018.
Nas has been off the radar as of late, with his name only really circulating around his rumoured relationship with Nicki Minaj. Cam’ron however, brought attention to Nas’ name in a recent interview where he cited the Jay Z and Nas beef his favourite hip-hop feud of all time.
“For a couple years Nas was kinda quiet, and Jay Z was elevating that particular time and everybody thought Nas was out. Jay Z had did a diss record towards Nas, I don’t know why.. the reason for him doing. He did a diss record towards an everybody was like Nas really gone,” he said on ESPN’s Highly Questionable. “Then Nas came out the blue with a song called “Ether” and it was like ‘wow Nas is not gone’. People probably have different opinions on won that battle, but that was probably the best battle I seen cause it was really intense. It was all based out of New York.”
